Origin of Images of Wales
The first Images of Wales photograph appeared on my website on 23 November 1997 as a feature linked from a Canadian friend's website, then known as Julie's Welsh Surname List. In those days the background and general design of the webpages mirrored those of Julie's website. On St David's Day (1st March) 1998, Julie's database of surnames was transferred to my own website where it appeared as the Welsh Ancestor List on the newly created Welsh Family History Archive. At the same time, the design of the Images of Wales page was modified to match the style of the rest of the Welsh Family History Archive.
Since November 1997, well over 200 webpages, featuring more than 2000 individual photographs, have appeared on Images of Wales.
