Personal note from John Ball
Since moving to Wales over thirty years ago, I have taken literally thousands of photographs of urban and rural subjects using both digital and film cameras. Many of these photographs have been featured on my 'Images of Wales' webpages, but many have not. In particular, I have a collection of photographs of over 200 Welsh churches and chapels, located mainly in south Wales, west Wales, and mid Wales. The collection has not previously been accessible on my website. At present, my collection represents only a small fraction of the total number of places of worship in these areas, but I hope to expand the collection in the future. I also welcome offers of good quality digital images from other photographers.
My Welsh Churches and Chapels Collection is making these photographs available on the Web. Access the collection via the four indexes, sorted on different criteria, which provide links to the photographs. Each place of worship added to the collection has its own dedicated individual webpage on which are displayed one or more photographs of the subject, together with relevant background and historical information, or links to such information.
Explore the indexes and completed webpages by clicking on one of the Search indexes buttons (above and below). Working alphabetically through the locations, I began adding the individual webpages and photographs in January 2007, and will continue to do so until the entire collection has been uploaded.
Present status (21 July 2008): 133 out of 222 webpages completed – currently working mainly on place-names beginning with 'Ll'.
