Technical Notes
Temperature charting commenced on 5th May 2001; rainfall charting commenced on 18th August 2002.
Temperatures are recorded using an Oregon Scientific MTR101 thermometer supplied by Maplin Electronics of Barnsley, England. Rainfall is measured with a TechnoLine Wireless Rain Monitor WS-7038 supplied by Diamond Sundial of Warrington, England.
The remote temperature sensor is located in a shaded position alongside my home. The rain sensor is located in an exposed position in my garden.
Readings are normally taken daily from the in-house base units, between 6:00 am and 9:00 am. The maximum temperature is usually achieved the previous afternoon; the minimum temperature, overnight. The charts are created in Microsoft Excel 2002 spreadsheet.
