Personal note from Tony Francis

I transcribed the Llangar parish records while looking for information on Robert FRANCIS born 1808 in Llangar.
I found Robert's baptism and that of other members of his family, and I discovered that his mother's surname was ROBERTS so I began noting references to ROBERTS, too. Then I heard about Welsh patronymics and began jotting down any occurrences of ROBERT, FRANCIS and similar names. There were PRYCEs living nearby, who might connect with my grandfather's name, Alfred Pryce FRANCIS, so I jotted them down too - along with a few others about which there had been enquiries on the local lists.... and the pages of transcribed data gradually piled up.
I'm now making my transcriptions available to others, but please remember that my notes are rough, incomplete, and perhaps littered with my unknowing mistakes. You'll understand why, if you've ever tried reading these very old records. Nothing beats going back to the originals - especially if you have good eyesight and a gift for languages.
I have indicated with question marks "?" where data such as undecipherable handwriting needs revisiting.
I would welcome help with corrections and additions to the data or ideas to simplify its presentation.
