Thanks John for a great site. I read your father's WW1 diary and it really hit home. My Dad was also in WW1 and sailed from the US on the Empress of Canada to Liverpool then on to France in 1918. I noted your Dad also mentioned one of the Empress Line ships. Keep up the good work; I know it takes a lot of time and expense.

Very interesting to see everything about Wales. My grandmother was a wonderful woman who lived for 90 years and never got back to Wales but spoke of it to me all her life. She never really lost her accent. It was charming. She was one of the most important people in my life and I loved listening to her stories of growing up in Wales.

Looking for three Rice brothers that came to America from
Wales. One settled in Rhode Island, one in Vermont and one
in Yorkstate. The one from Rhode Island was known as "Major" Rice and had a son names "Caleb". They settled in
Warwick near Providence, Rhode Island. Caleb married into
the Gerould family.

I enjoyed chasing through your web site. I was born in Llanelli of Anglo/Welsh parents, I do consider myself to be Welsh. I still have a cousin living in Llanelli my other relations have since scattered..one lives in Australia the others are in Southern England. Some still retain their Welsh accent. Good thing you're doing. For those of us who're some generations removed and out of touch, it would be nice to have a button or something that clues us in about the meaning of the daffodil. That must be a Welsh word, yes? But I've lived with it for 54 years and plenty of daffodils in our yard in Pittsburgh when I was growing up and never made the connection.

Not a criticism more a suggestion that certainly helps a researcher like me. JOHNS - JOHN - JOHN'S - are brought up together when asking the Search Engine to locate families
with this surname. You can imagine just how many JOHN (CHRISTIAN NAME) are thrown up. I am looking for JOHNS as a Surname so it is very helpful if web sites are named with a surname not a christian name. JOHNS is a fairly common surname both in Wales and Cornwall (my area). When I ask Search Engines to find my JOHNS name they always list all the JOHN's as well and these are spread down through the whole list, sometimes thousands in number. I am still wading through lists that I first found in April ! Hope you won't object to my comments as you are most kind to offer your facility to fellow researchers and we are glad that people take all the trouble of putting their own information on line. I hope to have a Web page at some later date but not until I can retire from full time work and get started.

I enjoyed your website very much, I first looked at your website in January, 1999. This time you had added
some new things, which I found quite interesting. I have among my families, I am researching, some
VAUGHANS, so far I've only found them in Alabama and Texas, in the USA. I haven't gone back any further

This is a first-class presentation! I will be "living" in this one. It is just about everything I looked for, for Things Welsh. My Mother is the Welsh part, descending pretty directly from the Rogers of Salop, and before that from people like Llowarch Goch, and Grono Lloyd. I bought a cassette-based Welsh course, after a long wait for finances, and it is music to my ears. So, I am going to see how your site may help me determine some of the details about these ancestors, and, along the way I want to become very, very familiar with who the Welsh are, and their spot on this Earth.

Just surfed on. Great web-site. I have enojoyed working on my family tree. It is great fun and I have been in contact with other family members on the internet that I did not know existed until I got a family tree program and began to put information on my program. Hi John,
just wanted to say hi and thank you for your images of Wales. When you are so far from home it is really nice to look at your photos and reminisce! I walked many of the Brecon Beacons summits in my younger days, including Fan Gihirych so I enjoyed the Snow On Brecon Beacons set, plus I just finished reading the 'Rape of the Fair Country' by Alexander Cordell so also really enjoyed the Nantyglo set.
