I am trying to trace the origins of Richard Morris (1720 - 1787) and his wife Catherine Owen (1726 - 1802), who lived at Cymryd Farm in the Vale of Conwy; they were the ggggrand parents of Canada's Confederation painter, Robert Harris, who was born in the Vale of Conwy in 1849 and died in Montreal in 1919.

I haven't had a chance to really check out your web site, but I just found it under the Welsh Society Philadelphia web site. Currently a member of the Colorado Welsh Society and actively trying to find out more about my welsh ancestry. Name before Stephens was Evans (Stephen Evans) and before that was Bevans (Evan Bevans). Family came to Pennsylvania with the Quakers in 1684 and were the orignal settlers/owners of most of Valley Forge through 1929.

I discovered you while researching the Scurfield family name. Our branch is from County Durham and were involved with coal mining, which is also very prevalent in Wales, isn't it? It is rumored that the Scurfields came from Escoville, Normandy, France with William the Conqueror. Did the Normans also settle in Wales? They left for America in the same year. If anyone has any information on these families
